Cathy Craig thought she was at a holiday event to raise money for scholarships. Many of her peers and protégés were there and acting like it was any other show.
The "Red High Heel Shoe Drop" at Bourbon St. Pub in Key West by owner Joe Schroeder saw female impersonator "Sushi" lowered in an oversized shoe on New Year's Eve for 25 years. An event that was seen by tens of thousands and broadcast to even more.
They growl and they give. The Bears of South Florida (BOSFL) are on a four-year run of incredible growth and the community is reaping the benefits. During their holiday party at Hunters on Dec. 1, they gave a total of $200,000 to 13 local LGBTQ groups.
Boosted by a motivated LGBTQ community, Eileen Higgins cruised to victory in the runoff election for Miami Mayor in what could be the proverbial chink in the Republican Party’s armor.
