Drag Icon Electra Says Goodbye; Gets Engaged | WATCH

Bette, Liza, Babs, Elton... Electra! She’s spent the last 48 years channeling the best, biggest, and bitchiest pop culture divas, and now she’s saying goodbye.

Electra held her final performance Saturday night at Hideaway on 26th next to Wilton Collective.

“I wanted to give you all my characters,” she said. “I brought along some of my favorites and I hope some of yours.”

The room was packed with adoring fans looking to make one last memory with a lifelong fave. She was often out of breath, saying, “I quit smoking four years ago, but kept the COPD.”

While the show may not have been as long or as high energy of years past, that wasn’t the point. She could have simply come out and just stood on stage in various costumes, and the crowd would have gone wild.

On this magical night, one magical moment stands out. Near the end of the show, she got down on one knee and asked her partner, who is from Greece, to marry her.

“Starvos, would you help me become a resident of Greece?” He said yes! Electra kept the PDA to a minimum, saying, “No tongues in front of the people.”

For her final costume change, she donned her finest Elton John drag, sang Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me, and took her final bow in front of a grateful audience.

The walls were lined with dozens of her iconic outfits, which were auctioned off. Electra’s donating half the proceeds to Wilton Collective and using the other half for two, one-way tickets to Greece.

LGBTQ hotspots have come and gone over 48 years, but Electra has been a constant, a North Star of drag using Orion’s belt as an accessory. One of her favorite events has been hosting the annual Wreath Auction at Pub On the Drive. Owner Alex Sadeghi told OutSFL that “We will miss her.”

The community echoes those thoughts.
