Food

My husband Sebastian and I recently found ourselves doing something we rarely do these days when we are busy with everyday errands and stress: lingering. What started as a casual night at Sunness Supper Club turned into one of those evenings where the conversation flows, the cocktails keep coming, and you suddenly realize you've been sitting at the bar for hours.

There’s something about traveling with my mom that always turns dinner into more than just dinner. Maybe it’s because we both love finding places that feel warm and inviting instead of overly trendy, or maybe it’s because some of our best conversations somehow happen over pasta and cocktails. During our recent stay at the Hilton Tampa Downtown, we found exactly that at Che Vita, a Southern Italian-inspired restaurant and lounge that quickly became one of my favorite parts of the trip.

There’s something about finding a restaurant where nobody feels rushed. The kind of place where coffee turns into a full conversation, dessert somehow becomes mandatory, and everyone at the table immediately starts planning what they want to order next time before the meal is even over. That was pretty much the vibe yesterday when I visited Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café with my husband Sebastian and one of my best friends, Sharma.

With Mother’s Day (May 10) and Cinco de Mayo falling just a few days apart. It might be best to treat mom to a Mexican Feast this year. Whether you decide to combine your holidays or separate them, here are some good choices.

Sebastian and I always find ourselves gravitating back to the Italy Pavilion at EPCOT. It’s one of those places that feels familiar in the best way, and it’s relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for slowing down for a good meal. Yet, surprisingly, Via Napoli was a hidden gem for us, one nestled in the back of the pavilion that we had never visited.
