To quote Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz, “People come and go so quickly here.” I’ve been a resident of Wilton Manors/Fort Lauderdale for 14 years, and even in that short time, I’ve seen numerous places come and go from Wilton Drive, sometimes in the space of less than a year, and that kind of change brings three new businesses to the Drive.

An amuse bouche [əˌmo͞ozˈbo͞oSH] is, typically, a small savory item of food served as an appetizer before a meal. They are served both to prepare the guest for the meal and to offer a glimpse of the chef's style. The term is French and literally means "mouth amuser." That seemed like a perfect title for this column of tidbits about dining events in and around Fort Lauderdale. 

The original Rustic Inn Crabhouse began as a roadhouse saloon in Fort Lauderdale some 60 years ago. Over the years, the hole-in-the-wall has evolved to meet the demands for steamed crabs, seafood, and other popular dishes. Famous for its signature dish, garlic crabs, it has become a Fort Lauderdale staple.
