There’s something incredibly comforting about catching up with a close friend, the kind of friend who knows your stories, your quirks, and one that enjoys food and trying out new places as much as you do.

I was extremely excited to try out this fast casual spot, one of the recently celebrated dining spots, thanks to a kind invite for review, which gives me a chance to tell all of you food lovers about it. Not only is that part special, but what’s even more special is the fact that two busy journalists, my close friend Christiana and I, were finally able to meet and enjoy some time together over some seriously yummy bites.

That’s exactly the kind of afternoon I shared and was looking forward to enjoying when we met to try out the food at Talkin’ Tacos’ location in Sunrise, one of the chain’s fast-growing spots bringing bold, scratch-made Mexican flavors to South Florida.

From the moment we walked in, the energy was warm, vibrant, and full of personality, just like the food. We were greeted by bright murals, the scent of sizzling spices in the air, comfortable seating and a seriously fun vibe that makes you feel right at home. It’s a place where comfort, creativity and a cozy feeling collide all at once, making it a great spot to gather with others for some authentic and inventive Mexican food.

Let’s first start with chatting about the tacos. They are deliciously layered, loaded with your filling of choice and full of flavor. They perfectly balance the feelings of street food comfort with a dash of chef-driven creativity.

We sipped on some bubbly Jarritos and couldn’t help but admire the playful, over-the-top creations coming out of the kitchen. Some of our favorites that we noshed on that day were the tacos, but let’s just say that there’s an inventive ramen dish that you must not ignore. The menu is filled with dishes such as crispy stacked wraps loaded with layers of tortilla, cheese, salsa, and Takis, as well as golden churros drizzled with Biscoff sauce and cookie crumbles. Whether you're a fan of birria, steak, or vegetarian options, there's something for everyone, so expect to not only leave feeling full, but also content with the fact that you can bring any friend or loved one that enjoys this type of food and that they will find something delicious and unique to match their tastes.

The spot is not just about the food, but there’s also a great story behind it all. Talkin’ Tacos was born in 2020 when childhood best friends Mohammad Farraj and Omar Almassalkhi decided to leave behind a more traditional path (including dental school!) to chase a dream. What began as a single food truck in South Florida has since grown into a nationwide sensation with over 20 locations and counting, and there are even more to come to open in Florida. This type of growth seems to come from the fact that they wanted to chase a more creative experience within their life, one that now creates a sense of community and has helped change the perception of what fast-casual dining is or is supposed to be. It’s all about not only enjoying the food, but also feeling like you are a part of something special.

Today, the brand continues to evolve with new indulgent menu items and even a full kids’ menu, offering little ones a choice of quesadilla, burrito, or chicken tenders paired with sides and a drink, all for under $10. It’s that blend of innovation, accessibility, and family-first hospitality that will surely keep fans coming back again and recommending the restaurant to others.

Christiana and I walked away from our visit feeling full of food, joy, and appreciation for a place that puts flavor and people at the heart of everything. It’s a place to not only stop for to enjoy a quick bite, but it’s also perfect for a family night out, or to go enjoy something out-of-the-box and seriously delicious.
