
While political storm clouds gathered around the Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival for months, literal storm clouds gathered over Wilton Manors on June 17. Neither were able to stop the party and protest from happening.
Comics have long served as an allegory for the LGBT community. Generations of closeted youth and adults have found relatable characters in the action laden stories. But it’s only recently that the queerness of comics itself truly started coming out of the closet.
In a time of year when rain can start falling from blue skies, it was a sunny, dry and fun day on the water for FLoatarama. The annual flotilla made its way through Fort Lauderdale’s waterways in a fabulous kickoff to Pride week.
After months of preparation and angst over new, anti-LGBT laws, Stonewall Pride Parade & Street Festival is upon us. While promising to be a party, it will also get back to the event’s historic protest roots.
