There’s an unexpected twist, or tryst, in Wilton Manors’ years-long dream of getting a hotel in the city.
Any resident or frequent visitor to Wilton Manors likely drives past it at least once a week and never notices or thinks twice. It sits unassumingly nestled among the trees in Richardson Park on Wilton Drive. We’re talking about the Carriage House, which is the first building you drive past when you enter the parking lot.
Seventy-one people gone. Seventy-one innocent souls lost. Seventy-one friends, lovers, sisters, brothers lost to violence. That’s how many transgender people were lost to violence over the past year. At least, that’s how many we know of.
Makeup that is just dramatic enough. Wigs without a hair out of place. Cornering the market on sequins. South Florida queens make it look easy, but drag is an art. That was proven when Aquaplex hosted The Art of Drag, benefitting the Art and Culture Center Hollywood.
