Being stuck in a job that isn’t paying the bills –– or with no job at all –– can feel hard to escape in South Florida.
At Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Queer Hike Club SFL gathered for a fall weekend defined by fireside songs and collective movement. Fog and dew clung to the trails at sunrise before giving way to sunshine filtering through the trees, as hikers, campers, and paddlers arrived ready to share the land together.
Economic mobility usually assumes a starting line: a bedroom to return to, a parent to call, a place to regroup after things go wrong. For many LGBTQ young adults in South Florida, that starting line never existed.
The Subculture Group had a banner year, with readers recognizing multiple beloved venues across Palm Beach County. Honors included Best Restaurant in Delray Beach for Dada; Best Place for Breakfast for Howley’s; Best Place for Coffee for Subculture; Best Art Gallery for The Peach; and Best Fundraiser for The Peach’s Pride on the Block partnership with Transpire Help.

Glittering pinks, defiant greens, found families in the rows. “Wicked” is not just a blockbuster movie or box office smash. It is a lifeline. A mirror. A political scream wrapped inside a ballad.
