Night Runners brings home two honors this year, winning Best Social Group and Best Place to Work Out, solidifying its place as one of Palm Beach County’s most vibrant LGBTQ community hubs.
Since its founding, Night Runners has grown into a true social powerhouse, offering a welcoming space where fitness and friendship blend seamlessly. Their twice-weekly free runs and walks at Howard Park draw participants of all ages and levels, creating a supportive atmosphere that keeps people returning week after week.
“It’s both humbling and rewarding to see the community’s support,” Ryan Thompson, a former president, said last year after winning four awards. “It shows us that our commitment to inclusivity and fitness is valued by so many, and it motivates us to keep growing and enhancing our impact.”
Community is at the heart of everything they do. In addition to their workouts, Night Runners hosts regular social gatherings, community meetups, and their signature annual Pride 5K, one of their most anticipated events of the year.
“The LGBTQ-centered organization blends community and workout,” Thompson said, describing how Night Runners offers more than exercise — it offers connection. “By offering [this] group for the LGBTQ+ community and allies, we’ve created a space that’s as much about social connection as it is about physical activity,” he added. “The sense of unity and belonging we see within our group is something we’re incredibly proud of and hope to continue fostering.”
With two more awards under their belt this year, Night Runners continues to prove that movement, joy, and community are a powerful combination.
