A painter is a visual artist who uses paint, brushes, and other tools to create art on surfaces like canvas or walls. They are skilled in using colors, shapes, and lines to express ideas, emotions, or social commentary, working with mediums such as oils, acrylics, or watercolors. Their work can include various genres like landscapes, portraits, and abstract compositions, and their paintings are often displayed in galleries, museums, or private collections.
Smack in the center of The Drive, we find Claudia Castillo's Art Gallery that has become a mainstay in Wilton Manors. OutSFL reached out to Castillo to find out a little more about her gallery, this is what she had to say: “We are a space for connections and creativity. We believe art should be accessible and inclusive, our gallery champions emerging and established artists alike. Whether you are an art collector or an art lover you will find something here that will speak to you. We celebrate diversity and we don't just curate an exhibition, we cultivate relationships, we belong to the community and this award is a reminder that I am part of this colorful and great community."
Castillo is passionate about helping her community and serves on the Wilton Drive Improvement District, Island City Art Advisory Committee and other non-profit organizations to expand culture and art diversity.
