Born and raised in Freehold, NJ, Chris Rhoades was on his first pair of skis at age 4. By the time he was in middle school, he had been asked to try out for the US Junior Ski Team.
After graduating from La Salle University in Philadelphia with a degree in communications, he embarked upon a career in retail with management positions at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. He left retail and became the manager of Salon Margrit in Palm Beach, where he has worked for the past 15 years. In January 2022, he opened Next Level Talent in West Palm Beach. The agency represents a variety of performers including bands, singers and dancers with a special focus on female impersonators and the art of drag.
Rhoades says that drag has always been around him in some way.
“I enjoy performance and illusion or what we would call drag. The transformation, the creativity, the personas and personalities that come from the art of drag all truly fascinate and entertain me at the same time,” he said.
Recently, Rhoades was named to the Equality Florida Board of Directors. This statewide position will allow him to help safeguard and advance LGBTQ rights in Florida.
