They are from Tallahassee, receiving their undergraduate and graduate degree from FSU as well as a PhD from NYU. Thomas has a forthcoming essay on grief and intimacy, rooted in the experience of losing a long-distance partner in a polyamarous relationship and inspired by a 12th-century English death poem.
As director, they have been focused on growing the Center through student outreach and creative programming, such as in bringing trans authors to campus and supporting upcoming workshops such as “Slut Talk,” led by one of their PhD students that will open a discussion space on how participants have been affected by terms such as “slut” or “faggot.”
“I made my picture as gay as I could make it,” they said, referencing their Ren faire outfit, colored hair and tattoos in their FAU faculty photo.
