At a recent 50th anniversary celebration of the first conference held on Homosexuality and Christianity, I was glad for the interest and appreciation of younger people for stories from my past, and that of Sister Jeannine Gramick.
Ray cried when he read my birthday card. It was the last sentence, “I feel safe and secure with you, my love, for which I’m eternally grateful.”
Dogs, as we know, learn language from their owners. Our 1-year-old “puppy,” Sebastian, is trying hard to understand what’s being said so that he might respond accordingly. In our household, that can sometimes be a challenge. Ray and I often don’t understand what’s being said by the other.
Last night we enjoyed homemade pizza and ice cream sundaes as we watched for a second time the delightful movie “Red, White, and Royal Blue.” What fun.
“We’re supposed to kiss for six seconds,” Ray told me after reading an article.
If I was in college today, with the same longing for peace and equality I had then and have now, I’d be in a tent protesting the slaughter of 34,000 women and children by a country with limitless weapons of war. In fact, I did.
The publisher of my memoir informed me that it has been “on hold” because of other projects. It’s coming, but I was upset, as I thought we were close to the release date.
“Oil.” The Tin Man asked for what he needed to keep moving. He had been stuck in place for a long time, but with the help of strangers, he danced again on the Yellow Brick Road.
At a recent dinner for Human Rights Watch, it was speculated by people at my table that the reason there were fewer people attending than the year before was, in part, because of the HRW report that concluded Israel was guilty of apartheid-like treatment of Arabs in their territory.
