His smile is bright, and his energy is boundless. You see him at city hall, all over Wilton Manors, and working to keep things rolling during major events.
Dio Sanchez is Human Resources & Risk Management Director for Wilton Manors. His position keeps him clued in to what’s happening in the city, while his passion helps make life “just better here.”
“My favorite thing about Wilton Manors and the LGBTQ community here is the sense of belonging and the celebration of individuality,” he said. “There’s a genuine feeling of inclusivity and acceptance. But what really makes Wilton Manors special is how it’s not just a hub for the LGBTQ community, but a welcoming place for everyone.”
Sanchez has been part of the community for 26 years and worked for the city for 25 years. City Manager Leigh Ann Henderson sees him in action every day.
“His contributions are often behind the scenes, but their ripple effect can be felt in every corner of our city. Dio is the definition of a true public servant: thoughtful, selfless, and always looking for ways to make people’s lives better.”
The best example may be Stonewall weekend. From the start of set up Thursday through cleanup on Sunday, he doesn’t rest. It’s not part of his job, it’s a part of who he is.
“I’m all in because I truly believe in the importance of these events.”
