Traffic in South Florida is bad and getting worse every year. While smaller cities, like Wilton Manors, don’t have major traffic issues (other than when streets flood or a slow-moving train rolls through), many worry the problem is coming.
Welcome to the Wilton Manors Gazette where we cover all things Wilton Manors and Oakland Park.
From Mickel Park on the westside to Hagen Park, the crown jewel of Wilton Manors’ park system, to pocket parks that dot the city, Wilton Manors has an abundant green space. Over the past 15 years, the number of services offered by the city’s Leisure Services Department has greatly expanded, and is the backbone of the slogan “Life’s Just Better Here.”
The designs look amazing. Sweeping murals, a gracious entrance and an intimate pool deck could entice just about anyone. But the devil, as it often is, is in the details. Wilton Manors’ Development Review Committee (DRC) is charged with putting plans under a microscope and making sure every square foot meets city code. They have a list.
Que Sera Sera helped make Doris Day an icon. Today, another Doris Day is becoming an icon in Wilton Manors. She’s the cutest half of a team, taking micro-marketing to a new level.
Plans for a hotel on Dixie Hwy. in Wilton Manors are getting a lot of positive feedback. The first look came last month, when CANA invited the developer to discuss the proposal. The room was packed and reception for the 123 room hotel, set to be built on the site of the old funeral home, was good.
Developers of the proposed hotel in Wilton Manors are beginning to lay the foundation. No, not the process of breaking ground and laying concrete. They’re laying the PR foundation to win approval from the city’s boards and commission and, perhaps more importantly, the community.
