Lips Closes; Aquaplex Opens

Just when it looked like we would have to kiss Lips goodbye, someone swooped in to save the iconic drag cabaret. After years of neglect by absentee ownership, the venue and format felt old and morale was at an all time low amongst the queens, who act as servers, bartenders, greeters and performers.

The owners of Aquaplex in Key West bought Lips and rebranded it as Aquaplex Fort Lauderdale and did major cosmetic and infrastructure upgrades.
