Lady Bunny Stirs Up Trouble

It was a cruel summer for LGBTQ icon Lady Bunny and Pridelines. Long after she had been booked to appear at Pridelines’ gala and receive their National Icon Award, problematic political comments raised red flags. She made vicious comments against Kamala Harris, who had just become the Democratic nominee for President.

Pridelines stuck by her, saying they are apolitical and were honoring her for her body of work, and that she had promised to be noncontroversial in her remarks. It was not to be.

On stage, Lady Bunny avoided politics. Instead she went after audience members. Several people walked out early, including Tiffany Fantasia who was brought to tears. Pridelines issued at least three apologies.
