Many of us have seen at least one gay or straight rom-com, in which the nebbish-y lead character, played by the movie’s writer/director, ends up making out (or more) with another hot lead character. In a way, that’s the fantasy part of actor/writer/director Matt Shear’s “Fantasy Life” (Greenwich Entertainment).

The number two resonates with the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida (GMCSF). Two shows, two venues, two sellouts, $200,000. Over the weekend, the chorus did two ABBA shows at two different spots, selling out both. They also announced that grant cuts at the federal and state levels have seen $200,000 in funding evaporate. The OUTShine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Spring Edition returns to South Florida April 23 – May 3. Acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ cultural festivals in the world, included are four international, nine North American, and six East Coast premieres from 20 countries. This year’s Centerpiece Film screening at the Koubek Center Theater, on April 30, will be Maspalomas (Spain, 2025), an intimate story of homosexuality in old age. Post-screening, the audience is invited for light bites, entertainment, and complimentary cocktails.
