Certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as an HIV specialist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Robert C. Gioia has a deep-rooted interest in preventative medicine, sexual health, LGBTQ health and HIV medicine. He prides himself in leading a healthy, active lifestyle and provides patients with advice on how to modify their own lifestyles to improve their health. He joined Holy Cross Health in 2024 and this year he has won OutSFL Readers' Choice award.

We recently caught up with him and this is what he told us: "I have a lifelong passion for health care that begun with my first career as a dentist, which I practiced for 10 years before pursuing my medical degree. I became board certified in Family Medicine and obtained HIV certification, allowing me to specialize in caring for patients living with or at risk for HIV. My diverse background gives me a broad perspective on patient care, emphasizing prevention, education and compassion in every aspect of my work. I am deeply passionate about our community and committed to making a positive impact through compassionate care. When I am not at work, in enjoy working out and staying active. I love supporting local businesses in Wilton Manors. Winning this award is deeply meaningful because it reflects the trust and appreciation of my patients. It reinforces my commitment to go above and beyond every day - listening carefully, providing compassionate care and treating each patient as a whole person. The award is both humbling and inspiring. It motivates me to continue striving for excellence in every encounter." Dr Gioia, the name in Italian means Joy, loves spending time with his husband and their dog, Milan.
