For 20 years Neil L. owned a company that cared for people with Intellectual and developmental disabilities then he gave it up all to live in Key West where he decided to be a bartender.
“I wanted to meet people and be part of the show,” he said. “I have about 250 Rums at my home and I am one of the biggest Rum nerds you will probably ever meet.”
Neil first started his bartending career at Rum Bar then moved to Orchid Key Inn where you can find him now.
If you didn’t get the hint that Neil loves rum, he also teaches small rum classes, which include its history, the different types, and some of the famous stories in rum history.
Every Tuesday he does a Tini Tuesday day, where you can find every Martini you can think of.
Next year he’s launching the Inaugural Key West Rum festival set for August 14-18. You can find more information at RumFestKeyWest.com.
As for his favorite drinks, they include the Hemingway Daiquiri or a Rum Negroni.
