Terry Bowie, a dedicated advocate for the LGBTQ community, has recently been appointed to the board of directors for the Compass Community Center in Lake Worth. Compass is recognized as the oldest continuously operating LGBTQ+ community center in South Florida, providing a diverse array of services and resources tailored to LGBTQ+ individuals.
Bowie is known for his kindness and philanthropic efforts. For him, being on the board is a valuable opportunity to contribute to his community while simultaneously gaining enriching experiences.
“I have the opportunity to engage with younger individuals,” Bowie, 55, said. “This allows me to connect with members of our community in a more personal manner than I would typically have the chance to do.”
Residing in Lake Worth Beach, Bowie relocated to South Florida from Washington, D.C., in 2010. Since then, he and his husband have cultivated a portfolio of real estate investments. His professional experience encompasses various sectors, including the aerospace industry, Big Pharma, and marketing high-fashion brands in Palm Beach.
Nonetheless, Bowie finds his role at Compass to be the most rewarding. “I collaborate with individuals whom I have known for many years in an official capacity, that makes me feel appreciated,” he said.
