When Rae Jenae moved to Miami from New York in 2017, she was looking for lesbian-centered events and came up empty. So, she created her own. What began as an Instagram directory quickly turned into a nightlife empire. Her first event at Sidebar in 2018 drew more than 700 people, and she’s been curating queer nightlife ever since.
Through LezChic’, Jenae has built residencies at top venues across South Florida including Sidebar, Purdy Lounge, Sweet Liberty, and Escape Lounge, with flagship events like Flesh Friday, Ladywood, and Babes and Bubbles brunch. Many events are free and community-focused, centered lesbian joy while welcoming trans and queer folks of all identities.
“My favorite part is taking a moment to take it all in and see what I’ve done and how great it is and benefitting the community,” Jenae said.
A one-woman show, Jenae says she’s looking forward to bringing people on her team.
“I would love people to know that we’re in need and if they’re interested in saving queer safe spaces, especially for lesbians, to come see me,” Jenae said.
