For Lisette Garcia, being out and proud isn’t just a statement — it’s personal. Decades ago, as reality TV was just taking off, she appeared on The Gay Riviera.
“I was proud of being part of that show as my parents were even filmed showing their support for me and my identity,” she said.
At the time, she didn’t realize the full impact that visibility would have.
A couple of years later, she said, “I was approached by a young queer woman who stated she wanted to commit suicide. But thanks to me, she felt she had hope and decided to give life another chance. She thanked me, we stayed connected, and to this day they are an advocate for others in our community.”
Garcia may have left her reality TV days behind, but she remains a proud and visible leader — now serving as the Executive Director of the Greater Miami LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC).
“I want people to know that the chamber is an accessible, safe space for our community to come together and I am proud to be in the forefront to lead it alongside my board and leadership team,” she said. “I want people to remember that we are a force to be reckoned with and we are even more powerful together.”
Garcia brings a rich background in leadership, having held roles at companies including Lime, Gotcha, Ofo, Sony Music, and Color Magazine.
