Justin Lynch skipped school as a teenager to color his girl friend’s hair and perm it in the same day. Long story short?
“She looked like Chunk from ‘The Goonies,’” Lynch said. “I got in so much trouble. My father and her father got into a fist fight, the cops came, it was a whole big deal, and I was like ‘Mom, I just wanna do hair!’”
Forty years later, Lynch has undeniably grown from his “Goonies”-style special. His versatile skill set has given him opportunities to do hair for celebrities like Kesha, Tarina Patel and Sam Smith.
Lynch opened his own hair salon in 1998 after building a steady clientele list a few years prior. He went from a 26-year-old trying to prove himself with $5,000 in his pocket to a world-renowned hair stylist, all from his unique abilities that spoke for itself.
Though he’s traveled the world doing celebrity hair for glamorous red carpets and fashion shows, Lynch said it’s the recognition from his Palm Beach community that fills his heart the most.
“I told my partner Ross, ‘This means more to me than anything,’” Lynch said. “I always wanted a legacy, and especially with my peeps.”
