David Sexton has a simple message for anyone feeling demoralized in today’s political climate.
“Focus on problems you can fix. Focus on things you can achieve. Focus on the people around you,” he said. “Register voters. Support causes. Build community. Bring joy.”
Sexton serves as the Events Manager at SAVE in Miami.
“Even though I am proud to be part of the fight, my purpose is to bring people together. The world is filled with hate today because so many out there feel alone and isolated and disconnected,” he said. “True community is necessary to heal the craziness.”
In addition to his work with SAVE, Sexton produces events for organizations such as Young Musicians Unite, the Rhythm Foundation, O Cinema, and the City of Miami Beach.
For Sexton, being out and proud means “to be aware of the hate that exists in the world and to have enough strength and inner joy to face it unafraid.”
