Danna Davis is a storyteller with a purpose. As Executive Producer and Co-Founder of Mary It’s Mary Productions, she specializes in crafting compelling narratives that illuminate diverse experiences — from the struggles of LGBTQ youth and the triumphs of queer artists to the challenges faced by transgender individuals.
“From the very beginning, I was reminded by the heteronormative society that I was different,” she said. “Their words, meant to degrade, never deterred me from living authentically. Instead, they fueled my determination to be true to myself, regardless of the daunting challenges that came my way.”
Davis recalls a moment in the ’90s with a friend she instinctively knew was trans.
“When I addressed him about his true self, it was something he wasn’t ready to discuss, so I just said, ‘Little sis, when you’re ready, I’m here,’” she said. “Before I knew it, she was on her way, and the happiest I had ever seen her.”
Now, Davis is committed to amplifying those stories — especially within the trans community — through media that matters.
“Our goal is to share the stories of our communities and leverage our talent resources to make a meaningful impact,” she said.
