By his own admission, Brock Boyd is a big fanboy when it comes to superheroes and all things science fiction and fantasy.
As the president of the Bears of South Florida, he leads a membership of 3,400 men and 200+ dedicated volunteers committed to helping LGBTQ nonprofit organizations. While he self-identifies as an admirer/wolf in the bear hierarchy, what if he could be any character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? A likely and, well, obvious choice would be the uber bear Ursa Major. Superhero fanboy, remember?
“Outside of my community work, I proudly embrace my geeky passions — anime, manga, superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy. I find inspiration in the classic training arcs from anime and manga, where heroes push themselves through grueling journeys to level up and save the day. That same spirit of transformation and growth fuels my commitment to help others feel empowered and supported, wherever they are on their own journeys,” Boyd said.
Boyd balances his duties as the Director of Marketing Technology at Millionaire Publishing with his volunteerism.
“In 2016, I took a voluntourism trip to Haiti with the Renand Foundation and offered to teach martial arts to school children in their program. What began as a simple offer evolved into creating a full fitness and martial arts initiative,” Boyd said.
