Justin Wyse and I launched Out South Florida after we had to shut down South Florida Gay News when SFGN owner and co-founder Norm Kent died. We did not realize that we would mourn both Norm and SFGN in 2023.
Jason Parsley is the owner and publisher of Out South Florida. Before OutSFL Parsley worked at South Florida Gay News from 2011 till 2023.
OutSFL and Food Not Bombs Fort Lauderdale recently got into an online spat. In an editorial last week, I blasted them for calling us “disgusting” and all police “pigs.”
Thank you. When Norm Kent died in April, my business partner Justin Wyse and I had no idea what the future would hold for South Florida Gay News. It quickly became clear the business model was not sustainable, and we shut the company down.
Curse. That’s the word the student newspaper at Florida Atlantic University used to describe the HIV status of a former student, who is positive.
