Sworn members of the Wilton Manors Police Department (WMPD) are among the lowest paid in South Florida. Now they and the city are working to change that, but are coming at the challenge from two very different places.

Camdyn Rider, a 21-year-old pregnant trans man, was murdered by his partner outside his Winter Haven home on July 21, the Human Rights Campaign has announced. 

The Box Gallery in West Palm Beach has moved to a new location. Owner, artist and curator Rolando Chang Barrero has gathered diverse pieces of art from multiple LGBTQ artists to showcase at the Grand Opening on Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. The exhibit, entitled “Florida! See it Like a Native,” was curated by a panel of local judges.

Plans for a hotel on Dixie Hwy. in Wilton Manors are getting a lot of positive feedback. The first look came last month, when CANA invited the developer to discuss the proposal. The room was packed and reception for the 123 room hotel, set to be built on the site of the old funeral home, was good.
