There’s nothing better than a chance to enjoy carefully selected wines alongside creatively crafted dishes.
It was wonderful to recently discover a gem known as Sixty Vines. It is exactly the type of place that those who love wines and upscale dishes will feel right at home and truly enjoy, leaving satisfied with their experience.
With locations in Downtown Miami and Boca Raton, and an upcoming one at Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, think of Sixty Vines as the perfect place for not just date night, but a lively gathering with loved ones. After a recent visit, I left convinced that this is a place that will enjoy a lengthy stint in the South Florida restaurant scene.
The Downtown Miami location is a gem, located in the heart of a bustling environment, nearby Bayside Marketplace and other establishments that offer entertainment daily for those who visit.
Once you walk in, you’ll be greeted by high ceilings, dark wood décor, plush seating in an expansive bar, and breezy outdoor seating. The 9,500-square-foot space, designed to seat more than 300 diners, is as impressive as it is beautiful.
The restaurant prides itself as "the winemaker's restaurant.” We felt like this was true, for Sixty Vines proved that they offer wine country inspired cuisine, the type of food that can be light and refreshing, as well as hearty. You’ll feel as if you stumbled upon a secret restaurant in Napa Valley, where you can enjoy unique bites alongside delicious wines.
When it comes to food, we had a chance to try a variety of their dishes and made sure that the knowledgeable servers selected the perfect glasses of wine to pair perfectly with our dishes. We were not disappointed, for they proved themselves to be true experts when it comes to their wine and beverage menu overall.
The restaurant also offers signature craft cocktails that are perfect to start your night with, showing off the fact that they are also well-versed when it comes to true mixology. One of our favorites was the Tequila Fix, featuring a mix of Corazón Blanco Tequila, watermelon and lime.
For the curious, the restaurant’s name comes from the fact that they offer 60 wines on their sustainable tap system. The wines will transport visitors to diverse wine regions around the globe, and Sixty Vines offers pours and pairings tailored for all tastes. We recommend trying a few and sipping on a flight of wines that will showcase a variety of ones, white or red, and maybe you’ll just discover a new favorite in the process.
Some standout dishes that we tried included the charcuterie board which included selections such as Prosciutto di Parma, a farm aged ham aged for 18 months, as well as their Beemster Aged Gouda, a firm cow milk cheese. The restaurant also the offers crispy pizzas, and a standout one was the Spicy Sausage Pizza, featuring tomato sauce, house made sausage, mozzarella, provolone and pickled Fresno peppers. Their Hummus is a classic plate to share, one that’s perfect to start with. You can pick from a red beet hummus, edamame hummus with crisped flatbread to enjoy.
Other dishes that impress include their Atlantic Salmon, Pan-Roasted Chicken, and wood-grilled Bavette Steak. This proves that there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy, and the restaurant also offers fresh salad dishes.
Feeling like a nice brunch or lunch visit? The restaurant also offers weekend brunch and lunch hours for those that wish to start their day or have a midday treat. And, for those who enjoy a nice happy hour, the restaurant offers a Tappy Hour from 3 to 5 p.m. where diners can enjoy half priced wine glasses and $2 off select small plates and appetizers.
A place where the elegance of great wine and food pairs perfectly, we recommend taking a moment to indulge on a nice meal. You deserve it, and it’s great to try something new that might just become a new favorite.
