Queer women will have more opportunities to meet and socialize thanks to new initiatives from Front Runners and Walkers of Fort Lauderdale (FRWFL).
A women’s walkie-talkie event will take place on March 26 at 6 p.m. This event is a short walk that’s formatted for speed dating or networking. The walk ends at Rebel Wine Bar, where participants can keep the good vibes going at happy hour.
FRWFL is also hosting a run/walk during Wilton Women’s Week on April 25. That event is at 8 a.m., and check-in starts 30 minutes before. Attendees will have an opportunity to donate to Women with Pride.
FRWFL diversity coordinator Gabriel Ferwalt said hosting opportunities like these gives the queer community more diverse options to connect.
“I personally know of queer women who feel like there aren’t many social activities or ways to meet other queer women outside of Wilton Drive,” Ferwalt said. “FRWFL wants to offer a solution that involves a healthy activity, with a social aspect.”
