Take advantage of Florida’s warm winter and join a community of tennis lovers this holiday season.
South Beach House of Tennis, cleverly dubbed “SoBeHoT,” is an LGBTQ-friendly tennis group based in Miami. It’s a non-profit that promotes recreational tennis and supports players of all skill levels, according to its website.
The group plays on select Fridays and Sundays. Upcoming events include match play on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 at Flamingo Park, located at 999 11th St, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Other places that hold matches for SoBeHoT include Moore Park, Crandon Park and Morningside.
You can sign up through a Google Form linked on its website. There, you will list your contact information and skill level so you’re matched fairly.
Matches cost $30 if you pay through Zelle and $32 with Venmo.
SoBeHoT does more than host matches. Players go on to compete in professional tennis tournaments, and the group hosts pool and viewing parties.
“We strive to provide a safe and empowering space where players of all skill levels can come together, connect and enjoy the sport they love,” SoBeHoT’s website reads. “Together, we aim to celebrate the joy of tennis, build lasting relationships and make a positive impact in our local LGBTQ+ community.”
