Nay-Kia LaFace Armani’s performing career spans over half her life. Her stage presence has graced venues across the United States, from Mississippi and Tennessee to Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, New York, and Chicago.
After taking a few years off from pageants, performing in the OutSFL Pageant was like old times.
“There was a lot of camaraderie,” she says. “It was really nice to be backstage with my girls again, like when we were younger, joking around, having fun, helping each other. It just felt like home and family backstage.”
Armani is a lover of all things vintage. She loves vintage clothing, music, and her favorite venues are from back in the day. “The Coliseum was my favorite,” she reminisces. “They had the best stage, the best lighting, and the best audience.”
Armani is also an entrepreneur, running three small companies that cater to the beauty and style industries. “Ninety-five percent of my wardrobe is vintage, and as my closet started to overflow, I began to curate vintage clothing,” she says. Her brand is named The Girl on the Street (tgots).
Armani also works as an outreach coordinator for the McKenzie Project, a Black trans-led organization that promotes entrepreneurship and innovation to help community members become self-sufficient.
