All-Male Resort In Key West Sued for Discrimination

6. Key West found itself at the center of an intra-LGBTQ fight for equal rights when a woman sued for the right to access a clothing-optional resort. Amina Chaudhry sued New Orleans House and Island House for discrimination. Both are popular resorts that cater to gay men.

Florida’s Commission on Human Rights ruled against her, but a judge overruled it and said women should be granted the right to disrobe next to men. New Orleans House’s pool deck is clothing optional and closed to women during certain times.

New Orleans House made some accommodations, noting that there’s another pool on the property where everyone is welcome anytime. The owners are also appealing the decision.
