Lady Gaga's new album was inspired by "Paris Is Burning," Zaya Wade has "never been happier" on HRT, and the British LGBT Awards announced its list to honor the community.
Lady Gaga’s ‘Mayhem’ Was Inspired By Ballroom Culture
Lady Gaga revealed her upcoming album “Mayhem” was inspired by “Paris Is Burning” in an interview with InStyle.
The film showcased the lives of LGBT performers within New York’s ballroom scene, which Gaga pays tribute to in her latest music video “Abracadabra.”
Gaga went on to confirm that her admiration of ballroom did influence both “Abracadabra” and “Mayhem.”
“I grew up in New York City and I also was a student of Paris Is Burning when I was really, really young…” said Gaga. “I am still so inspired by it and to this day, it felt like a relevant thing to bring up in the video because it’s about resilience. I can’t think of a place where I’ve seen more resilience than in a ballroom.”

Zaya Wade has opened up about her gender-affirming care and has “never been happier” in an interview with Seventeen Magazine.
Wade told the outlet that the Trump administration “really knocked me back. I couldn’t stand up for a little bit. But then I realized it’s time to roll up my sleeves and keep going.”
Wade, daughter of Miami Heat Legend Dwyane Wade, discussed how she wants to walk the runway “very authentically” by not “hiding my transition, my gender, or my skin.” She also adapted her understanding of puberty as a trans woman.
“I’ve never been happier than how I am on estrogen,” said Wade. “I just feel so perfect. And I’m refocusing on my skin because of this new world I entered. I’m really into skincare.”
