Don’t blink –– the Front Runners and Walkers of Fort Lauderdale (FRWFL) have multiple events planned for February, starting as soon as this weekend.
A1A Race Weekend kicks off on Friday with a “racers and friends” mixer at DrYnk Bar from 6-8 p.m. Races begin on Saturday with the Celsius 5K at 7:30 a.m. Two more races, the Full and Half Marathon and the Fresh from Florida 6K, take place on Sunday at 5:50 a.m. and 6:10 a.m.
While some races are sold out, FRWFL is still looking for volunteers to help work information and check-in booths for the event. There’s also a race for kids that still has spots open. It’s a 1.2 mile race that starts at the end of the adult marathon course, so kids will be able to finish with the adults. It costs $25 to enter your child.
If you’re wanting to start a little slower, you can join FRWFL’s monthly training club. This month’s club will meet on Feb. 19 at Carter Park Track at 6:15 p.m.
Want a tasty reward after you run? Join FRWFL for their monthly “Thirsty Thursday,” which takes place on the first Thursday of every month at Voodoo Brewing Company. You’ll walk, jog or run a 2-mile social run, and finish with a complimentary beer or soft drink.
