Hold your horses –– that is, until late April when the Gay Polo League hosts its international tournament.
The International Gay Polo Tournament brings together players and spectators alike for a weekend of play and fundraising. The tournament will be held in Wellington, Florida, which is about 43 miles from Wilton Manors.
The fun begins on April 24 with a charity party featuring snacks, entertainment, an open bar and dancing. Everyone is encouraged to wear their “finest wig.”
On April 25, the games begin. There will be 16 LGBTQ polo players from around the world competing for top trophies in the tournament. Gates open at noon, and matches occur from 1-3.
Gay Polo League ensures all the fun goes toward a good cause. Through its charity events and fundraising efforts from the weekend, it supports LGBTQ organizations that make a difference in the community. For the past two years, it partnered with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which is dedicated to eliminating AIDS and addressing stigmas around the disease.
General admission tickets for matches on April 25 cost $54.42. There are numerous upgrades you can add on to your ticket, so visit Gay Polo League’s website for more information.
