Maxx Fenning has accomplished much beyond his years - he recently graduated with his bachelor’s in business administration from University of Florida while also leading PRISM, a nonprofit focused on sexual education for LGBTQ+ youth in South Florida.
PRISM started as a GSA when Fenning was attending Boca Raton High School and has expanded to the nonprofit it is now.
“We're creating a ton of resources for GSAs to use in the coming school year to create safe spaces on their own campuses,” Fenning said. “I'm very excited about that. It really kind of touches the whole breadth of what we educate on. So, history, sexual health, gender identity, and then policy education, and also tips for running successful clubs. How to recruit members and stuff like that, and how to run a club, social media, and then a lot of student resources.”
Fenning reflects on what being Out and Proud means to him.
“I think it's taking up space and having the courage and the audacity to be who you are no matter what, and force other folks to listen to you and make sure that your voice is heard,” Fenning said.
