In almost two years serving as the Community Outreach Coordinator at Holy Cross Health, within the Community Health and Well-Being Department, Von Biggs has accomplished so much for the LGBTQ community.

His multifaceted responsibilities include overseeing the HIV Self-Testing Program, administering vaccinations, and enhancing capacity-building efforts.

“I focus on addressing the unique needs of both the LGBTQ+ community and the aging population we serve, particularly long-term HIV survivors,” he said. “Additionally, I actively volunteer as the Vice Chair of the Broward County Health Services HIV Planning Council, and I’m honored to be part of the Ending The HIV Epidemic (EHE) Advisory group.”

Biggs was also selected by NMAC to join the 2024 HIV 50+ Strong & Healthy Cohort, dedicated to supporting the 50+ HIV community.

“My mission is to amplify the voices of those often marginalized and underserved,” he says. “[...] Leveraging my privilege, I empower community members who may not yet have found their voice, advocating for their inclusion until they are rightfully seated alongside decision-makers.”

Biggs is also a founding board member of TransEd, an organization founded by Franchesca D’Amore, dedicated to providing educational solutions for transgender and nonbinary students.

He is a public speaker and educator on HIV and STIs in Broward County, where he conducts seminars, workshops, and community outreach programs to promote sexual health and reduce stigma.

At the age of 60, he is returning to school to pursue a degree in Health Services Administration to enhance his knowledge and skills to better serve the community.
