A quick glance at Doug Evans’ résumé reveals a man for all seasons.

Arts commissioner, classically trained opera singer, globe-trotting businessman and multi-million-dollar philanthropist.

“I’ve had a great life, I’ve had a lot of fun in my career,” said Evans.

As President and CEO of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, Evans is tasked with uniting business interests in a cosmopolitan area, seeing new arrivals daily.

“In this community, it’s all about business and creating success, without the politics that insulates itself in other markets,” he said.

Prior to landing in South Florida, Evans served as the State of Connecticut’s Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, raising over $100 million in 10 years. It was a role, he admits, “required me to do a lot of horse-trading.”

In another life chapter, Evans toured China for the Nederlander Organization, bringing Broadway shows to a network of 25 theaters in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.

“Nothing is ever accomplished by one person,” Evans said. “You surround yourself with really good people, and if you inspire them to work harder than you achieve greatness.”

Evans lives in Palm Beach with his husband of 15 years, real estate developer Mikolaj Bauer.
