Justin Wyse and I launched Out South Florida after we had to shut down South Florida Gay News when SFGN owner and co-founder Norm Kent died. We did not realize that we would mourn both Norm and SFGN in 2023.
This week, Craig Jungwirth has been sending out promotions for an upcoming Fireman’s Ball. Like his promotions of the Beach Bear Weekend – this is yet another fake event, designed to troll people and potentially scam them.
Gov. Ron DeSantis is continuing his assault on the First Amendment by signing into law SB 184 that creates a buffer zone around first responders – supposedly to keep harassers away.
Craig Jungwirth is a deranged psychopath. And our legal system has failed his many victims over and over again.
OutSFL and Food Not Bombs Fort Lauderdale recently got into an online spat. In an editorial last week, I blasted them for calling us “disgusting” and all police “pigs.”
“You people are disgusting.”
That’s the message the Fort Lauderdale chapter of Food Not Bombs had for the OutSFL staff this weekend on Instagram when they repeatedly criticized us for allegedly supporting the police in a news article.
Thank you. When Norm Kent died in April, my business partner Justin Wyse and I had no idea what the future would hold for South Florida Gay News. It quickly became clear the business model was not sustainable, and we shut the company down.
Last week, I called on the student newspaper at Florida Atlantic University to retract a botched story about HIV. While they didn’t remove the story, they did apologize to their readers for spreading “medical misinformation” – among other things.
Curse. That’s the word the student newspaper at Florida Atlantic University used to describe the HIV status of a former student, who is positive.
