America is cruising closer to a monarchy as President Donald Trump hypes up the possibility of a third term.
After dropping hints for months, Trump confirmed he is serious about extending his stay in the White House beyond 2028.
“I’m not joking,” Trump reportedly said in a March 30 interview with NBC News, in which the nation’s 45th and 47th president elaborated: “there are methods which you could do it.”
The 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution forbids a president from serving more than two four-year terms. The amendment was a Republican-led effort and post-World War II response to former president Franklin Roosevelt’s four terms in office.
But, as we know, rules haven’t stopped Trump before. He has already floated potential avenues to get around the amendment, one of which is for Vice President J.D. Vance to run, win and then pass the baton.
Meanwhile, Vance visited Greenland as Trump continues to apply pressure on the world’s largest island. “We’ll get it,” Trump told reporters, while not ruling out acquiring the autonomous territory through military force.
And lastly, the president threw his weight behind Florida Sen. Randy Fine’s congressional campaign. Fine, the bombastic gambling industry executive, whose bid to become president of Florida Atlantic University was rejected, is seeking the open seat in Florida’s 6th congressional district.
Trump said Fine would be a “tremendous Voice for MAGA.”
