For openly gay vocalist Jeff Harnar, life truly is a cabaret. He has received multiple accolades for work as a performer including awards from the Mabel Mercer Foundation, the Chicago Cabaret Professionals, Manhattan Association of Cabaret (MAC), and Broadway Cabaret World, to mention a few.

Broward County has a rich and active arts community, with far more viable LGBT organizations than you might expect from a population of about a half-million people (many of whom are not full-time residents).

It’s going to be an evening of high-energy music, dazzling fashion and the spectacle only drag performers are capable of delivering when OutSFL presents RUBY ROYALE: A Tribute to Melissa St. John’s 40 Years of Drag Excellence & Community Service on Feb. 17 at the Lake Worth Playhouse in the LGBTQ+ sanctuary city of Lake Worth Beach. Show time is 8 p.m.

One thing you can say about Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody: she’s consistently inconsistent. Since her groundbreaking screenwriting debut in 2007 with “Juno,” her track record has been uneven, with the misses (“Ricki and the Flash,” “Paradise,” and “Jennifer’s Body”) outweighing the hits (“Young Adult” and “Tully”).
