For South Florida's queer community, the name Yoko Oso has become synonymous with boundary-pushing drag artistry. But on Aug. 17, the local performer will bid farewell to the nightlife scene with a special one-night-only show, “The Farewell Show,” marking a new chapter in her creative journey.
Chatham Greenfield's own disability makes them feel like they're stuck in a time loop, so they wanted to write a story about a character going through something similar, but having someone by their side who understands them.
Even though “Sing Sing” (A24) features out actor Colman Domingo (giving another of his trademark Oscar-worthy performances) and tells the story of a sort of theater troupe, it is not a musical. It is, in fact, quite the opposite. “Sing Sing” is the kind of “feel good” movie that the Brits are so good at, as in the cases of “The Full Monty,” “Brassed Off,” “Billy Elliott,” and “Pride.”
