The South Florida Amateur Athletics Association (SFAAA) added three new members to its hall of fame: Stan Butler, Jr., Donald DeSormoux, and Josh Yeager.
SFAAA is an LGBTQ softball league open to members of the community and allies. It has over 30 teams and over 500 members.
With the addition of Butler, Jr., DeSormoux and Yeager, the SFAAA Hall of Fame now has 61 members. All three will be inducted into the SFAAA Hall of Fame on June 7 at an awards ceremony during All-Stars weekend.
Butler, Jr. formed the first gay team in the area even before SFAAA’s inception in 1994. He played a vital role in marketing, organizing, coaching and playing for SFAAA in its early days, league Hall of Fame chair Tim Martin said in a press release.
DeSormoux, who joined SFAAA in 2004, has been chairman of the Ratings Committee, served on multiple committees, served on the board as Recruitment Director and was the 2019 SFAAA Volunteer of the Year, Martin said.
Yeager is the co-director of the Hurricane Showdown, a tournament that occurs over Thanksgiving weekend. Having joined the league in 2014, he has served on the SFAAA Board as Business Development director, chaired the Rating Committee and was the SFAAA Volunteer of the Year in 2017, according to Martin.
