John David Corey is running for a seat on the Palm Beach Town Council. He says that while being gay is a part of his identity, it doesn’t define him.

“I don't differentiate myself at all, and I don't think anybody else does either,” Corey said. “They see somebody that's hard-working, successful, determined. And that’s it, I’m running on my merits.”

The election takes place March 19.

Corey will face off against Bridget Moran. This is Corey and Moran’s first time running for town council. Corey currently is a member of the Architectural Review Commission. He also serves as a director of the Palm Beach Civic Association.

Corey lives with his husband, Miguel Rosales, in Palm Beach.
