A regal and raucous ceremony ushered a fresh year of philanthropy. The Imperial Sun Court of All Florida (ISCOAF) held their annual investiture ceremony at The Well on Wilton Drive.
They honored their new empress and emperor, Reign Chamber-Cox and Terry Larait.
“We put in a lot of work last year to show we could to that this year,” Lariat said. “Reign and I have been in the court system for years.”
The group holds fundraisers for charities close to the heart of the emperor and empress as well as the group. The work throughout South Florida and Chamber-Cox says this year they are expanding north towards Lake Worth and Orlando.
While the court system dates back decades, this is only the seventh investiture for this chapter.
The theme of this party was steampunk saloon, and members were decked out. Tall hats, round glasses with funky frames, and jackets and outfits that celebrate the era.
“We’re here to have a great time and do good deeds,” Eric Lipson said as the program was getting ready to start. “The court system has been around since 1965. The Florida Court is one of the newest in the system.”
The ceremony started with the presentation of the colors and the national anthems of Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Then the royal accoutrements were venerated and oaths were taken.
The court, which is dedicated to bringing unity to community, is embarking on a unique year. LGBTQ is under attack by the federal government, Florida, and corporations ending sponsorships and DEI programs. Lipson says the court has their marching orders.
“We are the people that marched and fought for civil rights for decades. This year, the Queen Mother has issued a proclamation that we have a year of activism. That we are out there fighting for the rights of everybody in the LGBTQIA community.”
