A national LGBTQ storytelling series is looking for South Florida voices as it prepares for its Fort Lauderdale debut this fall.

Queer To Tell will make its South Florida debut on Sept. 18 at ChainBridge Distillery, bringing its intimate live storytelling format to the city as part of a nationwide expansion.

Organizers are seeking LGBTQ storytellers to share a personal story during the event, which will center on the theme Tales of Pride. Stories should explore moments of pride in being queer, in the LGBTQ community, or inspired by a friend or role model. Experiences could include coming out, marching in Pride for the first time, performing in drag, or choosing to live authentically.

Selected storytellers will present a true personal story lasting seven to 10 minutes. Presentations can take the form of storytelling, stand-up comedy, spoken word, poetry, or an essay reading. Stories do not need to be memorized, and participants will workshop their pieces with producer Nick Eibler during the week before the show. A music stand will also be available for those who wish to read from notes or an iPad.

Founded in New York City, Queer To Tell hosts live storytelling events in LGBTQ-owned and affirming spaces, highlighting local voices while fostering community connection. The series has expanded to cities including Austin, Louisville and Pittsburgh, with Fort Lauderdale joining its growing national tour this year.

Storytellers are not paid, but participants will receive a professional video recording of their performance and event photos. Organizers expect to finalize the lineup by Aug. 28 and encourage interested community members to apply as soon as possible. Because the series aims to feature a diverse lineup, not everyone who applies will be selected.
