A modern speakeasy-inspired omakase concept has opened at Benny’s on the Beach - Oceanwalk in Lake Worth Beach, at 10 S. Ocean Blvd. This will be the third Sushi by Boū location in Palm Beach County following the 2023 openings in Boca Raton and at the PGA National Resort. The new Sushi By Boū – Ocean Blvd. location features a classic omakase experience at a 14-seat bar. As part of the bespoke speakeasy dining experience with Sushi by Boū.
Sushi by Boū at Benny’s on the Beach captures an effortless vacation vibe with a chic glam twist, with soft sandy tones paired with bold pops of color, creating a laid-back yet stylish atmosphere. Sushi by Boū has mixed in natural elements like driftwood and ocean-inspired decor, along with some shiny metallics and luxe fabrics to add that touch of elegance that comes together in a perfect balance. The ideal environment for a fun, vibrant sushi party at the beach. It feels like you are at a glam dinner party.
They took what was a small side room with a few booths at Benny’s and completely reimagined it as a speakeasy with a small tiki hut bar with vintage mermaid wallpaper a few lounge chairs and a long sushi bar dominating the room. Sushi by Boū’s seasoned sushi chefs expertly guides guests through the hour-long omakase experience. The omakase menu is displayed and before the meal, the chefs ask about any allergies or dining preferences, for example, my husband does not eat mollusks and I’m allergic to crayfish and coconut. There was neither crayfish nor coconut on the menu during our visit, so I got the regular menu, for the dishes with mollusks, they swapped out a substitute for my hubby. I normally would shy away from raw shrimp, but the sushi we had featuring it was delicious.
Sushi by Boū partners Erika London and Chef David Bouhadana are both Palm Beach County residents, with Ms. London relocating to Boca Raton with her family in 2022.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the iconic Benny’s on the Beach’s team and excited to bring Sushi by Boū to the Lake Worth Beach area for our first ocean-front omakase experience,” said Ms. London, who functioned as host during our visit.
Make certain to try some of the signature cocktails such as the Yuzu Honey Bee, Shiso Southsider, Beach, Please and Ship Happens. Those not partaking in alcohol can enjoy the zippy ginger-infused honey iced tea. The 12-course omakase is $65 and the 17-course “Bougie” upgrade is $125. Each course is just one or two delicious bites, but believe me, you won’t go home hungry. On the night of our visit, the omakase featured: Hamachi (yellowtail), Botan Ebi (spotted prawn), Ikura (salmon roe), Hotate (scallop), O-Toro (fatty tuna), Unagi (bbq eel), Tuna Tartar, Sea Urchin, and the house’s signature Wagyuni (surf and turf), among others. Hand rolls and other sushi favorites utilizing the freshest highest quality fish sourced locally and globally are available upon request, along with additional à la carte specialties and seasonal mochi ice cream for dessert.
