OutSFL and Stonewall’s screening series, “Films Every LGBTQ Person Should See,” continues on Thursday, March 12, with the documentary, “Uncle Howard.”
Director Howard Brookner died of AIDS in NYC in 1989 while in post-production on his breakthrough Hollywood movie, “Bloodhounds of Broadway.” His body of work, including the documentaries, “Burroughs: the Movie” about William S. Burroughs (1983) and Robert Wilson and the Civil Wars, on theatre director Robert Wilson (1986), had been buried for 30 years in William S. Burroughs' bunker until his nephew Aaron Brookner unearths his story and the memory of everything he was, including screenwriter, actor, and technician. The screening begins at 6:30 at Stonewall Museum & Library, 1300 E. Sunrise. Admission is free, but donations to Stonewall are accepted.

Lead With Love
The Community Foundation of Broward and Business for the Arts Broward (CFBBAB) debuted a new “Lead with Love” mural, created by visionary artist Cey Adams, as a featured attraction at the newly renovated Huizenga Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The colorful and engaging work of art is the fourth mural in collaboration between CFBBAB and Adams to create nine love-themed murals that foster inspiration, unity, and leadership in communities across Broward. The goal is to use the power of the arts to enrich and unify the community and promote cultural engagement. The reconfiguration of Huizenga Park now incorporates a series of uniquely designed outdoor rooms offering opportunities for leisure, dining, physical activity, events, and meet-ups. The park, which was originally built in the late 1990s by the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority, now sets the standard for urban parks in Fort Lauderdale. It contains a terrace with food trucks, a large fountain, a dog park, access to the Riverwalk, access to the water taxis and plenty of green space, two restaurants will open in the next year, and of course, plenty of green space.
