A new chapter has begun in the story of women’s leadership within the LGBT community of Fort Lauderdale. The Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Chamber of Commerce (GFLGLCC) has officially launched the Women’s Business Council, marking a historic and inspiring step toward inclusion, empowerment, and visibility for women in business.
At our very first meeting, we welcomed over 25 women business owners — each one a powerhouse of creativity, resilience, and community pride. The turnout spoke volumes about both the need and desire for representation in a space historically recognized for its strong male presence, especially within the Wilton Manors community. This gathering wasn’t just about introductions; it was about building a movement where women support women, and allies stand shoulder to shoulder in unity.
Among the attendees were artists, restaurateurs, coffee shop owners, marketing professionals, consultants, and service providers — all women who have built their businesses with heart, passion, and purpose. They are redefining what it means to be an entrepreneur in South Florida, showing that leadership thrives when diversity and collaboration are at the core.
The Chamber’s belief in our vision has been pivotal. By creating this council, the Chamber has recognized not only the presence of women-owned enterprises but also their immeasurable impact on local economic growth and community engagement. This initiative isn’t just about networking — it’s about amplifying women’s voices, fostering mentorship, and ensuring that our community reflects the full spectrum of who we are.
As the Women’s Business Council grows, our goal is clear: to elevate LGBT and Allied women-owned service providers and make it easier for residents and visitors alike to hire local, hire women, and hire with pride.
Together, we are shaping a future where women are not just part of the conversation—they are leading it.
