Not too bright. That’s what people once thought about you. Your language didn’t conform, you had your own sense of style, and you were ignorant about modern things and places and foods. But you were no dummy.
Birds do it. According to Cole Porter, bees do, too, but it’s not exactly what he imagined. Wild and tame, avians, insects, and mammals all have sex – although not always as you’ve been told or for reasons you might think. Even educated fleas do it and, as in the new book, “Poking the Squid” by Perrin Roosevelt Ireland, humans can learn from them all.
Step, step, tap, back step. Shimmy in a circle, left hand waving over your head, shake your tail feathers, repeat to the beat. Once was a time when you could do any dance in your sleep, but it’s been awhile. So read “Mighty Real” by Barry Walters, and see if your toes don’t tap.
